Inspiration. The design is inspired by a vision during the Days of Awe in 5778 (2018). The Days of Awe are the 10 days between Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashana, the New Year in the biblical calendar, 1st of Tishrei) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement, 10th of Tishrei). During those days G-d reveals what is written in the heavenly books for the coming year.
In the vision I was attacked from the left side by a demon in the shape of a serpent, looking like a very large cobra but with a smaller flaring hood. No sooner had I seen the demon attacking me when a group of angels rushed in in a blink of a second. The first angel put a shield onto the ground, then the second angel put his shield right next to first, then the third and so on. Then an angel put his shield on top of the first shield, making a second row, then they made a third row and so on. The angels continued until they had built a wall that was entirely formed of their shields. The wall protected me against the attacks from the demon. The demon attack lasted for a full three days but the angel shield wall protected me and I suffered no harm.
The shields looked all the same, were perfectly square and as if made of see-through plexi glass. At the same time they were very colourful having a blue rim and a bright red centre with a large knob. The navy variation comes closest the heavenly original in the vision.
During the design process we tried different blues and caught the vision that there must be other angels whose shields are differently coloured than those I saw. So, we produced blue variations to reflect this.
2 Samuel 22:3
G-d who is my Rock, in whom I find shelter, my shield, the power that saves me, my stronghold and my refuge. My saviour, you have saved me from violence.
